September 2004. Doctors told me I had Carcinoid Cancer and that I had two weeks to live. If this was to be his last season I wanted to be close to the Swans. I had been member for years. But I wanted to "feel the club's culture". "So I struggled out of bed one day, went down to the SCG and the team was training on the ground outside," I gained the coach's attention, told Roos about my illness and his wish to play some role with the Swans before I died.I have been close to Paul Roos and the Swans since. Paul Roos and my bloods saved my life, they have shown me the courage to fight when all seems lost. I was in the Coaches Box for the 2005 Season and the Finals and stood out on the MCG on Grand Final Day next to Paul Roos and Stuart Maxfield. I was granted my first wish by the Bloods.

Paul Roos September 2006 invited me to the last training session at the SCG in Sydney before the Swans 2006 AFL Grand Final against the West Coast Eagles."

Completed Medibank Private Form. November 2005. David John WADE.Both Doctors reported condition Carcinoid Tumor Mysentery Inoperable.Plus due to position and scaring from Radiotherapy.David John WADE arrives Uppsala Hospital Sweden 21-11-2005 for consultation.Dr Dan Grandberg . 22nd, 23rd November scans and blood tests.David John WADE Operated on the 24th of November 2005 by Doctor Per HELLMAN.and Carcinoid Team at Uppsala Hospital. Result of operation- Operation Total Success.

Main Carcinoid TUMOR removed and secondary Carcinoid metastasis removed. By passed bowel re attached and deseased part removed . Spots on Liver identified and to be removed by Radiotherapy in about two months Operation a total success

Life span now 8 years to 15 years

Doctors noted that the bowel was becoming diseased and strangulated by main Carcinoid mass and serious complications would have arisen in about two months. Possibly life threatening.Thanks to Dr Grandberg abd Dr Hellman and the Carcinoid Team Uppsala Hospital Sweden:Thanks to the Nurses and staff at the Uppsala Hospital for all their help they were fantastic and helped me in my recovery.Thanks to Paul Roos Stuart Maxfield and the Sydney Swans for their support prior to the operation and their extended well wishes. It was my Grand Final and I won.My main aim now is to help those with Carcinoid Cancer in Australia. I will help you raise the funds needed to get you the best treatment and perhaps where possible get you to Dr Grandberg and Dr Hellman in Sweden for treatment.My aim for Carcinoidwade is to also get the Uppsala Carcinoid Team Sweden to Australia to a major convention to get Australian Doctors to understand the Cancer and advise on treatment.
